ITDP-China in 2012 completed a BRT conceptual design for Kuala Lumpur, funded by the Malyasian Land Transport Commission, who were inspired by the Guangzhou BRT. This conceptual design features a BRT corridor connecting the western suburbs to key destinations in the heart of the city, including along two of the highest profile urban corridors in Kuala Lumpur (the Federal Highway and Tun Sambanthan Road). The system was approved for construction and is currently in engineering design.
